How Variable Cylinder Management Reduces Fuel Consumption

Last updated 4 years ago

Honda is committed to building cars that are fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly. Variable Cylinder Management is a state-of-the-art engine technology that allows the engine to adapt to different driving situations. The VCM engine contains a program that allows it to run on three, four, or six cylinders. The cylinders are activated or deactivated with i-VTEC technology, which senses what amount of engine power is needed for the specific driving situation. As the engine seamlessly transitions between cylinder configurations, it is able to reduce fuel consumption by producing the exact amount of power needed for acceleration, cruising, hill climbing, and more.

For a firsthand feel of the fantastic fuel economy and performance provided by the VCM engine, stop by Brown’s Arlington Honda or give us a call at (703) 522-8808. Our knowledgeable staff will be happy to tell you all about the fuel-efficient engine technology available on a new Honda vehicle.
